7th grade field trip (Postponed) - Due to predicted afternoon thunderstorms for Friday, June 1st, we have been advised to reschedule our field trip to Tree Top Adventures to Wednesday, June 13th. The students will need to bring a bagged lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and refillable water bottle. They must wear sneakers and some comfy clothing.

Tonight (Wednesday) 6-8 pm West Bridgewater Middle Senior High School's World Culture Night is a celebration of diversity and a opportunity for students involved in Global Citizens, the Language Department, and the Model United Nations to showcase the foods, customs, and social attributes of these cultures. In addition to a multinational food court, students and special guest with unique talents will be demonstrating and displaying dance performances, music, Kun Fu, Zumba, an art show, and other interesting interactive activities for our guests to experience the vibrant cultures being represented. The culmination of this evening is the recognition of students we are inducting into the French and Spanish Honor Society. We wish to shout out our appreciation to all the parents, area businesses, special guests and to the many helpers who contribute in making this a memorable event. Students will bring projects directly to the cafe the morning of the fair for set up. Judging will begin at the close of school (11:00, half day) and it will last approximately 1 hour. At WBMSHS School, next Wednesday evening, December 6th we are very pleased to offer a performance by a professional African Dance Troupe who will offer a sampling of traditional African storytelling, a drumming performance and dance demonstration with audience participation. A sampling of a variety of African foods will be available prior to the performance. Doors open at 6 pm with the performance beginning at 6:30. Admission is $5 per person with a $15 family cap.

It is our goal to provide you with practical and useful information as we discuss what is happening with marijuana, opioids and other drugs that are influencing and affecting the lives of our kids. Speakers for this evening include: Dr. Dan Muse (ER DR at Brockton Hospital and medical consultant for Mass Police Training Center), Ryan Morgan (Principal of Independence Academy, a substance abuse recovery school, in Brockton, Lt.Tim Nixon of WBPD, as well as a representative from the Plymouth District Attorneys office and a representative from EB Hope. UNICEF - Hurricane Relief - The October Powerblock challenge for both 7th and 8th graders will be a fundraiser for UNICEF Hurricane Relief Fund. The winning powerblocks in each grade will receive an ice cream party courtesy of the Diversity Club.

The Spanish Honor Society is hosting its 2nd Tapas and Flamenco night at WBMSHS on Thursday, October 19th from 6-8 pm. Come and join us for a night of appetizers and an interactive performance by Flamenco Boston. Tapas will be served beginning at 6pm and the flamenco show will begin at 7pm. All are welcome to join! Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults with a family cap of $30. Tickets may be bought prior to the event from Spanish Honor Society members or at the door. Grade 8 Field Trip - The trip to the zoo scheduled for Friday has been cancelled. All money collected will be returned to the students. We are looking at alternate dates for a similar trip either this fall or in the spring.

This year’s PSAT exam will be given at West Bridgewater High School on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:30 AM. All juniors and sophomores are highly encouraged to take this exam in order to prepare for the SAT. Juniors will take the SAT for the first time in the spring. Both juniors and sophomores have received detailed PSAT information from the high school counselors. Please sign up to take this important test ASAP. The cost is $16-cash or check payable to West Bridgewater high school. Please contact guidance if you have any questions.

Emergency Procedures Drill - We had a successful lock down drill today at the MSHS. We did this with the cooperation of the West Bridgewater Police Department. Thank you for the cooperation of our students and staff.
Seniors - The Adventure Park trip is planned for Friday, 10/13. We will be gone for the day but back to school by 2pm. https://heritageadventurepark.org/ The cost of the trip is $25 and money and permission slips are due by Friday 9/29 (that is TOMORROW!). This month students in the Global Citizen Program skyped with students in Ufa, Russia as well as took part in a International Symposium on "Resistance Art" (using art forms like poetry to stand up against injustice). West Bridgewater High has made an alliance with a school in Ufa, Russia in which our students have begun to get to know each other and will be collaborating on projects over the next few months. In the symposium students were part of a discussion with students and poets from Egypt, Canada and various states in the United States. Our students had a chance to ask questions and probe cultural issues like tolerance from various perspectives.
The school store will be open tomorrow, Thursday 12/15, from 10:30-11:30 for anyone who would like to come in and shop for the holidays!
Lost and Found -we have been making announcements for weeks about our lost and found items. They will be donated tomorrow at 11. So if your child is missing something (coat, sweatshirt, lunch bag, shoes etc) check in the main office and the bin by the gym.

The drama club is proud to present an evening of song, dance and sweets! Join us for the “Winter Cabaret”, Wednesday, December 7th at 7 pm in the auditorium. This is a night of lively and classy show tunes from famous musicals, past and present, and desserts will be auctioned during the evening performance as well. Tickets are $5 for all students, staff and community members.

West Bridgewater students participated in a Model United Nations event today with students from Cohasset, Bourne, Mansfield and Taunton. It was awesome to have over 80 students and staff in the school today.

Staff at the MSHS have made these AWESOME baskets to be raffled both here at school and at the Lions Club Craft Fair this weekend. The baskets each have a theme for the department or group.
