This is a reminder about the annual Academic, Technology, and Fine Arts Showcase on Tuesday, May 8th, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Middle/Senior High School. All are invited and welcome to attend this awesome event. Come and celebrate innovation, expression, and excellence in our schools. Students from Preschool through Grade 12 will be showcased.
Here is some information about a fundraiser sponsored by the WBMSHS Art Department.
We are thrilled to announce that West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School will host its first annual Empty Bowls fundraiser on Thursday, May 8, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the art hallway near the gallery, during our school’s Academic, Fine Arts and Tech Night.
Empty Bowls is a powerful, international grassroots initiative aimed at combating hunger in our local communities and raising awareness of food insecurity around the world. The movement began in the early 1990s in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and has since spread globally, uniting artists, students, and volunteers in the mission to end hunger—one bowl at a time.
At our event, beautifully handcrafted ceramic bowls will be available for purchase, created and donated by our very own student artists. These bowls were made with care by students in Q3 grades 7 and 8, Mr. Stanfa’s Art I classes, Mrs. Massa’s Art 2 classes, and Ms. Wilburn’s Art 3 classes. Using a variety of hand-building techniques, our students have produced food-safe bowls that are as meaningful as they are unique.
Bowls will be priced between $5 and $10, and can be purchased with cash or a direct donation via the West Bridgewater Food Pantry website. Each bowl is meant to be taken home as a lasting reminder of the many "empty bowls" in the world and the ongoing need to support those facing hunger.
All proceeds will go directly toward fighting food insecurity through the West Bridgewater Food Pantry.
This project has been a labor of love and compassion. It is an incredible opportunity for our student artists to use their creativity in service of a greater cause. We are so proud of their efforts—not only as artists, but as caring, engaged members of our community.
We hope you will stop by the art hallway on May 8 to admire their work, purchase a bowl, and support this important cause.
