The Global Citizens are looking for new members for the 2021-2022 school year. What is Global Citizens? Its a club for students who are interested in languages, travel, other cultures and educating themselves and the community about important issues, practices and places around the world. If you’re interested and want to learn more, come to the first meeting in the Orange Commons on Wednesday September 22 at Powerblock. Request an E-Hall pass from Mr. Ennis or Mrs. Fouguere

The next debate team practice will be Wednesday after school in room 202. Did you miss the first meeting but are still interested, don’t worry you can still join! See Mr. Ennis with any questions. 

The next Model United Nations meeting will be Thursday during power block taking place in the library.  Students in grades 7-12 may attend.  See Mr. Nenopoulos with any questions. 

Did you drive over that fresh tar a little too soon? There will be a boosters car wash on Sunday the 26th from 12pm to 3pm at the town hall. Rain date is Sunday October 3rd, same time. The boosters need student volunteers for the car wash. You can sign up to volunteer in the office.

Girls varsity soccer team defeated New Bedford yesterday 2-0.  Amanda Jacques and Rachael Geniuch each scored.  Sophie Roy picked up the shutout.  Eva Adams, Brooke Joyce and Emma Lavoie had strong games.

The boys and girls cross country teams lost close races to Southeastern yesterday on their home course.  Ella Dunburywon the girls race by almost 4 minutes.  Congratulations to Viviana Morales Wakin, Sophia Banos Gomez, and Juliana Banos Gomez for completing their first 5K races.  Hayden Razzaled the boys team by finishing 2nd overall.  The 7th grade squad of Gage Turner, Ryan Geniuch, John O’Neil, Cam Frates, and Nate Trott all improved their times from their previous 5K races.

The JV Golf team lost a tight match to Abington by 1 point yesterday.  They battled through 9 holes with many of the matches coming down to the final hole.  Evan Kaprelian and Bryce Leighton picked up big wins in their match to keep the scoring close.  They will play today against Bridgewater Raynham.  

The golf team remained unbeaten with a 8 to 1 win over South Shore Voc Tech.  The low score of the day was Tyler Bisbee.  Tyler Bisbee, Tommy Sheedy, Zachary Bellody, Ben Astor, and Thomas Polidori all won their matches in convincing fashion.  The golf team plays today at WBCC vs. Bridgewater Raynham.  May the birdies be plentiful and the scores low for the WB golf team.

Anyone interested in playing boys ice hockey this winter, there will be a meeting next Tuesday, September, 28th during powerblock, 10:30AM. The coach, Mr. Derrico, of the new WB/EB coop will be there to talk about the season. Meeting will take place in the gym. 

There will be a Leos meeting Thursday during Powerblock in the Auditorium.  New members are soooo welcome.  If you are interested in serving  your school and community join us and sign up.

Working on a group project, need a place to collaborate or do classwork? The Learning Commons is open during PB using the e-hallpass system. We want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the space, so please know that students are allowed 2 passes per week. Your e-hallpass must be sent to Ms. Newell to approve by the end of morning breaks. No passes will be accepted after breaks are over.If your pass is canceled or declined it is because the Learning Commons is full that day or you have reached your pass limit.

Ms. Hammel is looking for a student to help collect game information from our coaches to enter into our morning announcements document. Please see Ms. Hammel in the athletic office for more information.

Any sophomore, junior, or senior interested in purchasing a class ring can pick up a ring information packet and order form from Mr. Winchell in Room 215.  Class ring orders will be taken on Thursday, September 23rd from 4:30-6:00pm in the lobby and during lunches on Friday, September 24th.

The MIAA is holding its 21st annual Sportsmanship Essay/Multimedia Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 9-12 and entries can be in the form of an essay or video. The contest theme is “Title IX and sportsmanship make high school sports better because…” There are some sweet cash prizes for contest winners so scan the QR code on your screen. The contest ends on October 15.

(Sept 22) The Wildcat Cafe is serving Chicken and waffles along with burgers and pizza crunchers today. Freshly made grab and go wraps, subs and salads are in the display fridges at the entrance and this week’s featured wrap is Honey-mustard BBQ chicken. Breakfast choices include funnel cakes, soft pretzels, pizza max sticks, breakfast sandwiches and assorted pastries. All meals are free but make sure to take at least one serving of fruit or vegetable.

Guidance News

Juniors and Seniors, we’ve got a couple colleges visiting this week: Saint Anselm College will be here on Tuesday and the University of New Haven on Thursday. There is a sign-up sheet in Guidance if you are interested. 

Seniors don’t forget to always be checking your emails, as there will be lots of information that you need to be aware of.
