MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

PowderPuff 2021 is happening  on Friday, October 22 at 7pm!!   What grade will win this year?   This event is open to any girl in grades 9-12 who would like to play a little flag football  and any senior boy who would like to be on the cheerleading team.  Sign ups will be Wednesday, September 29 and Thursday, September 30th during Power Block in the Cafe. The fee is $20. per student and this fee includes your team shirt.  For more information you can contact Makenna Walsh or Mrs. Flynn

The next Model United Nations meeting will be Thursday during power block taking place in the library.  Students in grades 7-12 may attend.  See Mr. Nenopoulos with any questions. 

Did you drive over that fresh tar a little too soon? There will be a boosters car wash on Sunday the 26th from 12pm to 3pm at the town hall. Rain date is Sunday October 3rd, same time. The boosters need student volunteers for the car wash. You can sign up to volunteer in the office.

The girls Junior Varsity soccer team defeated Holbrook 4-0 yesterday afternoon. Alyssa Catino scored 2 goals, while Jill Bouvier and Ava O’Neil each had 1. Solid work on defense from Shayna Wallach, Caroline Auger, Sophia Hulme and Alexis Adamopolos. Next game is set for Monday against Rockland. 

The JV Golf team battled through the threat of rain and a ton of wind in a loss at Olde Scotland Links.  They never quit with many playing their best golf on the final 3 holes.  Sean Petras and Kaylee Petenelli turned in the low scores on the day from WB. There will be no White Team Practice today. Be ready for the Maroon White match tomorrow. 

Anyone interested in playing boys ice hockey this winter, there will be a meeting next Tuesday, September, 28th during powerblock, 10:30AM. The coach, Mr. Derrico, of the new WB/EB coop will be there to talk about the season. Meeting will take place in the gym. 

There will be a Leos meeting Thursday during Powerblock in the Auditorium.  New members are soooo welcome.  If you are interested in serving  your school and community join us and sign up.

Working on a group project, need a place to collaborate or do classwork? The Learning Commons is open during PB using the e-hallpass system. Here are a few guidelines to know about coming to the Learning Commons for PB using e-hallpass. Please make APPOINTMENT PASSES ONLY to the Learning Commons. Your e-hallpass must be sent to the Learning Commons to be approved by the end of the first block. No passes will be approved after the first block ends. To make it fair to everyone to enjoy the space, you are only allowed to sign up 2 times per week (ex. Monday & Thursday). If your pass is canceled or declined, it is because the Learning Commons is at capacity for that day or you have reached your pass limit for the week. Please email Ms. Newell if you have any questions.

Ms. Hammel is looking for a student to help collect game information from our coaches to enter into our morning announcements document. Please see Ms. Hammel in the athletic office for more information.

 Any sophomore, junior, or senior interested in purchasing a class ring can pick up a ring information packet and order form from Mr. Winchell in Room 215.  Class ring orders will be taken on Thursday, September 23rd from 4:30-6:00pm in the lobby and during lunches on Friday, September 24th.

The MIAA is holding its 21st annual Sportsmanship Essay/Multimedia Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 9-12 and entries can be in the form of an essay or video. The contest theme is “Title IX and sportsmanship make high school sports better because…” There are some sweet cash prizes for contest winners so scan the QR code on your screen. The contest ends on October 15.

(Sept 23) The Wildcat Cafe is serving pasta with meatballs or chicken in garlic butter today along with personal cheese pizzas and chicken tenders. Freshly made grab and go wraps, subs and salads are in the display fridges at the entrance and this week’s featured wrap is Honey-mustard BBQ chicken. Breakfast choices include warm donuts, soft pretzels, pizza crunchers, breakfast sandwiches and assorted pastries. All meals are free but make sure to take at least one serving of fruit or vegetable.

Juniors and Seniors, we’ve got a couple colleges visiting this week: University of New Haven-Today at 1:oopm  

There is a sign-up sheet in Guidance if you are interested. 

Seniors don’t forget to always be checking your emails, as there will be lots of information that you need to be aware of.

Looking for community service hours?  St. Ann’s Parish is the place to go this Saturday.  They are in need of volunteers to help get the Parish ready for upcoming events.  If you are interested, please come to the office for more information.
