MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

PowderPuff 2021 is happening  on Friday, October 22 at 7pm!!   What grade will win this year?   This event is open to any girl in grades 9-12 who would like to play a little flag football  and any senior boy who would like to be on the cheerleading team.  Sign ups will be Wednesday, September 29 and Thursday, September 30th during Power Block in the Cafe. The fee is $20. per student and this fee includes your team shirt.  For more information you can contact Makenna Walsh or Mrs. Flynn

Members of the boys and girls cross country teams represented the school at the Frank Kelley Invitational on Saturday; a meet with over 1,850 competitors.  Hayden Razzaand Gage Turner earned medals in the boys middle school race.  Ryan Geniuch, JB O’Neil, Vivian Morales and Cam Frates all ran excellent races in the middle school competitions.  Ella Dunburyfinished 4th out of over 100 runners to medal in the girls Freshman/Sophomore race.

Attention Freshman & Sophomores who are interested in running for class office. Elections will be taking place on the week of October 4th to select the class officers for the Class of 2024 & 2025. If you are interested in running, please see Mrs. Longo in room 203 for a nomination form and for more information. 

Anyone interested in playing boys ice hockey this winter, there will be a meeting next Tuesday, September, 28th during powerblock, 10:30AM. The coach, Mr. Derrico, of the new WB/EB coop will be there to talk about the season. Meeting will take place in the gym. 

The first Student Council meeting will be held Thursday morning. All high school students are welcome to join as we begin planning Homecoming and Spirit Week! Please meet in Room 116 at 7:05 am; email Miss Pennington with questions. A reminder to all current NJHS members - our first meeting is tomorrow at powerblock. Check Google Classroom for details!

The next Photo club meeting will be today, monday the 27th in room 202 after school

The next Debate Team Practice will be held after school in room 202 on thursday the 30th

The next global citizens meeting will be held during powerblock in the orange commons on thursday the 30th 

Attention Model United Nations -- We have a meeting today during power block in the learning commons -- Also reminder that your Permission slips are due today. 

Working on a group project, need a place to collaborate or do classwork? The Learning Commons is open during PB using the e-hallpass system. Here are a few guidelines to know about coming to the Learning Commons for PB using e-hallpass. Please make APPOINTMENT PASSES ONLY to the Learning Commons. Your e-hallpass must be sent to the Learning Commons to be approved by the end of the first block. No passes will be approved after the first block ends. To make it fair to everyone to enjoy the space, you are only allowed to sign up 2 times per week (ex. Monday & Thursday). If your pass is canceled or declined, it is because the Learning Commons is at capacity for that day or you have reached your pass limit for the week. Please email Ms. Newell if you have any questions.

Ms. Hammel is looking for a student to help collect game information from our coaches to enter into our morning announcements document. Please see Ms. Hammel in the athletic office for more information.

(Sept 27) For lunch today the Wildcat Cafe is serving spicy or crispy chicken breast sandwiches, burgers or big daddy’s cheese pizza. Freshly made grab and go wraps, subs and salads are in the display fridges at the entrance and this week’s featured specials are a chicken bacon ranch wrap and fiesta chicken salad bowl. Breakfast choices include a NEW bacon, egg and cheese breakfast pizza, warm donut holes, soft pretzels, breakfast sandwiches and assorted pastries. All meals are free but make sure to take at least one serving of fruit or vegetable.

Guidance News

Juniors and Seniors, we’ve got a couple colleges visiting this week: Endicott College on Tuesday Sept 28th, UMass Amherst will be here Thursday, Sept 30th, and the University of Miami will hold a zoom  on Friday, Oct 1st  

There is a sign-up sheet in Guidance if you are interested. 

Seniors don’t forget to always be checking your emails, as there will be lots of information that you need to be aware of.
