The 100th Day started with a grade level challenge...which grade could find 100 Mrs. Goulets first?? Grade 1 came up victorious!!!

A few more pictures from 100th Day fun!!

Grade 1 kicked off their "Animals in Winter" unit this week with a fun and engaging exploration of how animals stay warm during the cold months. They’ve been learning about the different ways humans stay cozy, like bundling up in layers, snuggling in blankets, and heading inside to escape the chill. The class has also been comparing these methods to the winter adaptations of animals. One of the highlights was reading about and watching videos of penguin huddles in Antarctica, where penguins gather closely together to keep warm. Inspired by what they learned, the class decided to give it a try themselves and huddled up to experience firsthand how animals like penguins stay warm in the winter!

Last week, our students did a great job at our an anti-bullying assembly provided by MARC (Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center) from BSU. The difference between conflict and bullying was addressed through scenarios. We talked about how to cope with different types of conflict, and how to be a good friend and classmate. The importance of talking to adults about bullying and cyberbullying was emphasized. The presentation also encouraged students to support their peers and introduced different ways for them to provide that support.

Please note that the Principal Coffee Hour that was scheduled for tomorrow: Tuesday, January 28th, has been canceled. We look forward to seeing you at another time soon!

Delilah swam by the Rose L. today to visit with our first graders. Delilah is a life-sized inflatable North Atlantic Right Whale. Her measurements are based off of a real whale! They got to go inside the whale to learn all about its body and what it eats. They also looked at, and touched, real whale vertebrae and baleen (whale teeth). It was definitely a whale of a time! A big thank you to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation of Plymouth as well as the WBPTO for an amazing presentation!
