Dear Parents and Guardians,

We wanted to take a moment to make sure that you are informed of your rights related to the release of “directory information” under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) and the Massachusetts Student Records Regulations, 603 CMR 23.00.

The West Bridgewater Public Schools defines “directory information” as:

• a student’s name

• address

• telephone listing

• date and place of birth

• major field of study

• weight and height of athletic teams

• class

• participation in recognized activities

  sports, honors and awards

• post-high school plans.

Under state and federal law, school districts are permitted (and in some cases required) to release directory information for certain routine purposes, unless a parent or guardian has requested that this information not be disclosed.

Directory information authorization is included as part of the "Start of School Sign Off" Forms found in Aspen. If you need to update your FERPA Authorization, please visit the Aspen portal and fill out a new start of school form. Instructions on how to fill out a new form can be found here.
