TITLE I

What is Title l?

Title I Part A of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides funding to districts and schools with high percentages of economically disadvantaged families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. (Title I Part A - Federal Grant Programs)

In West Bridgewater, Title l is offered at the Spring Street School, Rose L. MacDonald School, and Howard School. West Bridgewater is a Targeted Assistance District.

How do students qualify for Title l support?

West Bridgewater Public Schools has procedures outlining the process used to identify any students most at risk of not meeting academic standards on the basis of multiple, educational objective criteria established by the district. Eligibility is not determined by economic status. We complete data reviews that look at Star assessments, DIBELS data, math benchmark assessments, MCAS data, and classroom performance over a range of time. Once a student is identified as qualifying for Title l support, the classroom teacher will reach out to the family with the offer of support.

Right to Know - Spring Street School, Rose L. MacDonald, and Howard School

Your child is attending a school receiving Title I federal funds. The Federal law requires that parents be notified of their right to know the professional qualifications of their child's teacher(s) in core academic subject areas.

As schools that receive federal Title I funds, you have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers:

  • Whether your child’s teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach

  • Whether your child’s teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver

  • The college degree and major of your child’s teacher

  • Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications?

If parents/guardians would like to request information about their child's teacher, please reach out to the building principal.
